SUMMARY

Hulu’s Product Management team is seeking a Senior Product Manager who will be an outstanding addition to our Video Pipeline team. In this role at Hulu, you will define the vision, roadmap, and execution plan for content delivery and playback solutions for both live video and video on demand (VOD). You will partner with and influence others to deliver best of class solutions which drive operational efficiency, and position Hulu's video platform for continued growth.

We are looking for an industry veteran who can easily navigate the complex landscape of digital media technologies, standards, and ecosystem companies. The ideal candidate will be a leader, influencer and authority in their area; someone who not is only well-versed in industry trends and direction, but can also significantly contribute to Hulu's leadership in the industry. You will seek solutions to some of the most complex problems Hulu faces in two key areas: content delivery services and device client playback.

Content delivery services include:

• Playback access services such as user authentication, entitlement, digital rights management (DRM), manifest generation, integration with metadata services, and dynamic ad insertion.
• Origin services including storage systems and just in time (JIT) packaging.
• Integration with content delivery networks (CDNs), including services which manage CDNs, load balance traffic based on QoS data and business rules, etc.

Device client players include:

• The underlying playback engines (everything below the user experience) comprised of the business logic, media presentation, and media engine layers of the player.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Define the strategy, maintain the product roadmap, and write detailed specifications for all aspects of Hulu’s content delivery services and device client players.
• Generate substantive increases in scale, quality of service, and performance by enabling operational efficiencies through best-in-class solutions.
• Partner with the Engineering and Technical Program Management teams to design solutions using a mix of homegrown and third-party applications.
• Effectively identify and manage cross-team dependencies.
• Interact with leadership, key decision-makers, vendors, and partners to build relationships and influence decisions.
• Collaborate with business partners to drive consensus and ensure alignment with business strategies.

WHAT TO BRING

• 6+ years of experience in a Product Management role.
• Deep understanding of streaming video delivery and playback technologies and solutions.
• Experience building backend functionality in support of consumer facing products.
• Experience with hybrid cloud architectures to enable scale.
• A history of establishing and maintaining successful cross-team relationships, utilizing outstanding communication, collaborative teamwork skills, and the ability to build consensus.
• Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
• A willingness to dive deep into the details.
• Ability to work independently through issues in an objective and constructive manner to determine what is working well and what needs to improve.
• Strong interpersonal, administrative, presentation and analytical abilities.

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Prior experience working for an online video platform (OVP) or content delivery network (CDN).
• Experience with international content distribution.
• Experience with networking and media protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP/2, QUIC, DASH, HLS, and ABR playback logic.
• Technical background – CS, CE, EE.
