Assistant Flagship Director
BACKGROUND
Due to an internal promotion we currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Store Director, focused on Guest Experience and Sales within our M&M’s World store in Leicester Square, London.
THE JOB
Creating a Great Guest Experience “one smile at a time”
The Assistant Store Director works in partnership with the Store Director to ensure the store’s overall operation and success. The primary focus of this position is to create an exceptional Guest experience through, hiring high caliber retail talent, training and developing managers, supervisors and associates to deliver an interactive and engaging, visually appealing “shoppertainment” environment.
KEY OUTPUTS
- Drive Results / Guest Service - Achieve our goals by bringing more chocolate smiles to our guests
- Through training, developing and coaching the Guest Experience Managers and Supervisors to ensure that the store meets and/or exceeds performance metrics, including Associate engagement and productivity.
- Partners with the Store Director to develop the strategies and plans to achieve sales growth through business analysis, action planning, effective communication and consistent accountability
- Role models the behaviors of an effective Manager On Duty and manages effective supervision to drive sales by consistently delivering exceptional Guest Service through the Mars selling strategy
- Manages the Character Performers & Buddies-delivering engaging and memorable experiences
- Display a "Guest comes first" attitude by training and holding associates accountable for delivering legendary Guest service.
- Talent Management - Deliver an exceptional retail experience by delighting our guests through our fun, knowledge and passion for our brand
- Responsible for the effective recruitment, selection and on-boarding of exceptional associates who are excited to work in a fast-paced Guest centric environment
- Identifies, develops and leverages existing talent to support the growth of the store through the Talent Management System and associate performance appraisal processes
- Rewards and recognizes behaviors / results that are in alignment with Mars purpose and values to promote a high-performing team
- In partnership with the Store Director drives the company’s performance management process and partner with P&O (HR) on associate relations issues to ensure practices are fair and consistent
- Manages the delivery of associate communication and materials - Champion the Fun Committee
- Presentation Excellence - Create a visually exciting merchandise presentation that is big, bold and branded
- Demonstrates knowledge of products, placement Onstage, sales impact according to the space occupied and general understanding of category components
- Supervises visual team to include in-store visual associate and visual support
- In partnership with Store Director and corporate team ensure proper and effective training and development is provided to associates to achieve an exceptionally visually appealing store that is Big, Bold and clearly Branded
- Operational Excellence - Ensuring operational efficiencies while delivering an exciting retail experience
- Through training and development ensures all areas of the store including Onstage and Backstage are neat clean, organized, operational and safe and comply with company policies and procedures
- In partnership with Store Director ensure that store is in compliance with all employment State and Federal laws, including but not limited to wage and hour and Equal Employment Opportunity
- Ensure that the store protects company assets thorough awareness of Loss Prevention best practices, including great guest service, associate bag checks, associate purchases, as well as all other compliance to company policies and procedures
- Personal Leadership - Exemplify leadership competencies that drive a high performing, highly engaged team

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 3 years management experience in a fast paced, high volume retail operation
- College Degree preferred equivalent experience
- Abilitty to determine effective methods of recruiting staff at all levels within the store environment
- Ability to make immediate decisions regarding associate issues, store policy and procedure issues and guest service recovery.
- Ensures M&M’s and Mars Wrigley culture and philosophy is brought to life
- Ability to make recommendations to enhance operational and associate needs
