Reporting to the Vice President of Government Affairs, the Director of Community and Business Relations serves as an integral part of the company’s management team and a key externally facing leader of Regence throughout the State. Serves as a brand ambassador for Regence BlueShield of Idaho, strategically positioning company’s executive leadership, shaping external communication campaigns, partnering with the sales team to cultivate opportunities and serve existing customers, and representing the company in the local business community by serving on local boards or community organizations that support Regence’s goals.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with President, VP of Sales, VP of Government Affairs, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager and other team members to develop and implement strategies and tactics that proactively identify and cultivate key relationships that position the company brand within the State to drive new business growth and customer retention.
  • Advise and direct the company’s foundation and Corporate Social Responsibility team to invest resources into nonprofit and community-based initiatives that further the transformation of health care and support the wellbeing of Idaho communities and its people.
  • Partners with Strategic Communications to identify brand-lift opportunities, positively highlighting the company’s philanthropic, community and public policy objectives in both traditional and electronic/social media.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key influence leaders within Idaho’s business, health care and civic constituencies, e.g. senior HR business leaders, hospital and physician community relations teams, civic and governmental leadership, media contacts and nonprofit stakeholders, etc.
  • Represents at various community functions; serves on various community/business boards, groups and committees as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years’ experience in community relations, business development, government and political affairs, or equivalent combination of education and job related experience.
  • Master’s Degree desirable
  • Experience in business highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing, on detailed policies in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of public settings, including knowing what to and what not to communicate
  • Ability to develop coalitions and synergy with partners (e.g. Chambers of Commerce, community agencies, business forums, associations)
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, critical thinking abilities
  • Strong analytic and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Strong community relations with ties to all aspects of the community
  • Must have political acuity and savvy
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively represent Regence in the community
