AB-PCI invests in middle-market companies across various industry sectors. Companies typically have robust business models, strong competitive positions, sustainable enterprise value and predictable cash flow profiles. The group maintains a strong credit culture and pursues a highly selective investment process based on fundamental due diligence and a focus on transaction terms and documentation.

AB-PCI pursues a flexible mandate designed to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns by investing in first lien, second lien, unitranche, and mezzanine debt, as well as structured preferred stock and private equity co-investments. AB-PCI focuses on directly sourced and privately negotiated investments in the primary issue market, while selectively pursuing opportunities in the distributed and secondary loan markets on a relative value basis.

AB-PCI is a relatively small group of senior investment professionals with a close-knit culture. The principals of AB-PCI most recently worked together while leading a similar private credit investing platform that successfully committed just under $1.5B in 48 transactions and generated attractive risk-adjusted returns for investors. Prior to this, AB-PCI’s team members worked at premier investment banks, and in middle-market private equity and private credit investing.

Responsibilities

AB-PCI is looking for an associate to work as part of the investment team. As an associate you work in small deal teams (usually 2 to 3, with 1-2 senior deal team members) on all aspects of credit investing. This provides an attractive opportunity for high caliber individuals to interact directly with senior team members as well as private equity investors, company management, sell-side banks, lawyers, accountants and other business professionals, as well as to be part of a new growth platform and assume significant levels of responsibility over time. Your main duties will be to:

• Play a key role in the execution of a transactions and management of portfolio investments: candidates must exhibit the capability to master all aspects of executing a transaction, including but not limited to business due diligence, financial analysis/modeling, industry research, preparation of investment memoranda and other written materials, and interacting with financial sponsors and management teams.
• Manage transactions with minimal supervision: candidates successful in the role will progress to coordinate the activities of all team members, the investee company, and external advisors.
• Develop an understanding of the AB-PCI investment philosophy and credit discipline and be able to apply it in the context of both the assessment of investment opportunities and transaction execution

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

• Bachelors degree demonstrating superior academic performance.
• At least two years prior relevant work experience in Leveraged Finance, Financial Sponsor Coverage or M&A investment banking, private equity, or private credit investing. Top performer.
• Teamwork: Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the deal team and with others at all levels throughout the firm.
• Work Quality/Productivity: Consistently produces high-quality, accurate work in a timely manner. Demonstrates strong attention to detail. Demonstrates ability to manage multiple assignments and handles pressure well. Prioritizes tasks and is well organized.

Identifies key issues, skillfully analyzes problems, and arrives at conclusions which facilitate the execution of a transaction.
• Initiative/Work Ethic: Self-starter. Takes ownership of projects and drives the process but also knows when to ask for help. Requires minimal supervision.
• Judgment: Demonstrates insight in making decisions and asking questions regarding the investment, situation and the client. Forms opinions and is discreet about confidential information.
