ABOUT THE BAIN CAREER ADVISORY

The Bain Career Advisory (“BCA”) is a global, collaborative team of individuals who act as trusted advisors on career strategy to current Bain employees and alumni considering their career options. The team provides expert advice and support on career strategy topics, as well as select introductions to other members of the prominent Bain network (e.g., other Bain employees, alumni, client hiring teams, executive recruiters). The team also partners with local office leadership, providing career-related insights and career coaching training.

BCA brings together deep experience in strategy consulting, executive search, and career services.

ABOUT THE APAC PROGRAM MANAGER ROLE

The APAC Program Manager will drive Bain’s efforts in several key offices in the region by providing guidance and coaching to Bain consultants and alumni as they explore their next career move, advising the office departure team on best practices for individualized career support, building coaching/career conversation skills among people leaders and collaborating with corporations seeking former Bain talent. As a result of their interaction with the Program Manager, each departing Bain consultant will feel supported, land a great role with potential for meaningful impact, and maintain a strong affinity for Bain.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the Bain Career Advisory strategy in defined region
  • Work with BCA leadership to set aspirations, goals, and metrics to measure success in APAC
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in each assigned local office to identify career support needs, manage departure support, and embed a career culture
  • Regularly analyze regional departure data to monitor departure experience satisfaction, and works with BCA and office leadership to make/execute changes based on findings
  • Career and departure support
  • Provide one-on-one confidential career support for departing employees in each assigned office
  • Build relationships with employers, clients, recruitment agencies, and alumni to keep pulse on industry job trends/climate and facilitate matching of departing employees and alumni with open roles
  • Lead training sessions on career planning and career coaching-related topics
  • Talent advisory support
  • Assist Bain clients and alumni with mid-level talent needs by helping to identify departing Bain employee or alumni candidates for relevant open roles
  • Ongoing alumni engagement
  • Develop ongoing relationships with alumni in assigned offices, facilitate the growth and support of a strong alumni network
  • Actively participating in and promoting relevant alumni events
  • Regional and global collaboration
  • Regularly coordinate and collaborate with BCA team as well as various other key constituents to share best practices, learnings, and help to build the Bain Career Advisory brand

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bain seeks a bright, passionate, and engaging individual who will be a highly credible and inspirational leader. This individual will be team-oriented and provide bold thinking to help stimulate an energetic approach to career culture strategy and deliver dynamic results.

Relevant experience: demonstrated ability to drive a strategic program and ensure adoption. A proven track record of effectively managing executive relationships and providing career support, with a strong preference for executive search/recruitment experience and/or corporate recruiting experience. Being well-connected with an extensive network of recruiting/search relationships as well as an in-depth knowledge of one or more Asia-Pacific job markets are critical. Experience with the post-consulting job market is a big plus.

Business and strategic acumen: experience with a wide range of industries and functions will provide the requisite business acumen needed for this position.

Influencing skills: strong influencing skills and relationship development ability across all levels of the organization in order to build credibility and implement change.

Powerful communication: the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in an effective, succinct and professional manner. An executive presence that commands respect with all stakeholders is required for the role. Prior experience delivering training is a plus.

Language/culture: Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus. Possesses an international mindset, and has experience navigating cultural differences.

Results: Track record of executing on a vision to drive measurable results.

Educational Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree is required.
