Business Development Manager, Construction

KATERRA's Preconstruction Function consists of Self-Perform Estimators, General Estimators, Preconstruction Project Managers and Procurement Managers. Our business model focuses on the combination of supplying our own materials, self-performing various aspects of trade labor and developing strategic relationships within the construction community.

The Business Development Manager plays a very key role within this function. KATERRA projects rapid sales growth over the years to come. Accordingly, it is imperative that we develop strong relationships with the local development and construction community.

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll be developing relationships with customers who are interested in KATERRA supplied materials to turnkey services. You will be working closely with our materials organization and estimating/preconstruction group, in order to help us make informed decisions for a given project. Also, you will be working with the various disciplines within our design organization in order to ensure we are creating the best value through our design.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Work closely with estimating and project teams
• Analyze costing trends, in order to make informed business decisions
• Feed new opportunities to the region
• Work with internal materials and design organizations in-order to drive value into every project
• Coordinate with sourcing on all demand, products, submittals & material strategy
• Ability to operate and execute effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and proactive approach that is results oriented
• Strong skills in building cross-functional relationships
• Knowledge in the industry with a pre-existing network of contacts
• Some travel will be required

Required Skills & Experience

• A completed bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience working locally within the commercial or multi-family construction market
• Ability to read and comprehend detailed construction documents
• Schedule driven and commitment to completion dates a must
• Microsoft Office products
• Outstanding negotiating skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Able to prepare reports, tracking & trends to present data as required
• Familiarity with requirements gathering, information architecture and specifications
• Self-starter
