Team Description

Our Tech Operations team scales security and reliability for our fast growing user base. This includes managing our network, hardware, and data centers, as well as creating the layer from which all Dropbox experiences are built. As our user base and product family continues to grow, tech operations is responsible for strengthening our foundation.

Role Description

Dropbox is seeking experienced data center technicians to help build and maintaining datacenter facilities around the globe. This person will be part of a small but growing team of very talented people responsible for building the cloud that hundreds of millions of users use to store their data.

Responsibilities

• Work with the datacenter team to handle any abnormal conditions in our datacenter
• Understand, troubleshoot, and fix broken servers
• Install servers, racks and network gear in our datacenters
• Work with the datacenter team to deploy new datacenter infrastructure
• Assist with promoting best practices in a datacenter
• Work closely with SRE and Network Engineering to automate and refine processes
• Responsible for handling incoming shipments and track server assets

Requirements

• Experience with desktop PC and/or datacenter server hardware
• Intermediate knowledge of linux, operational understanding of and how to modify/add dns zone files, experience using version control such as git or hg, basic scripting and regular expressions
• Able to lift 20-30lbs on a daily basis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time and project management skills
