About the Position

We are looking for a new accountant to join our Hong Kong accounting team to support both our local and global accounting operations at Jane Street.

You’ll work alongside team members to maintain the company’s internal books and records and help with our month-end close process. This will include the preparation of various reconciliations and financial schedules as we prepare financial statements.

This role will provide a great introduction and exposure to the larger operations of the firm as you interact with nearly every transaction in our Hong Kong office. The right person must be discreet, trustworthy, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.

Getting the details right in accounting is an extremely important part of our business, and we take pride in our ability to stay on schedule without sacrificing accuracy. Each member of our team is highly organized, proactive, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.

The legal and regulatory environment in which we operate is constantly shifting. Your previous industry expertise will be valuable to the team as we collaborate with outside auditors and advisors on accounting policy decisions and US GAAP/IFRS interpretations.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in the financial services industry
• Accounting designations highly preferred
• In-depth knowledge of HKFRS, IFRS and US and/or HK GAAP
• Able to produce timely and accurate records
• Supportive and reliable team player with a collaborative mindset
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
• Able to work independently and proactively with great planning and analytical skills
• Motivated to improve processes where possible
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
