Network Engineer

Job Description

• Build, install, and integrate a number of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.x/8.x servers into the current Grid Wide lab. The following are the highest priority items and would be built on VMware ESXi RHEL Virtual Machine (VM) hosts.
• Build, configure, and deploy RHEL IdM (LDAP) High Availability (HA) solution
• Build, configure, and deploy Nagios Log HA configuration.
• Build, configure, and deploy Nagios Monitoring servers
• Build, configure, and deploy RHEL SMTP HA configuration.
• Build, configure, and deploy secondary nodes supporting DNS, Ansible, Squid Proxy and jump servers.
• Build, configure, and prepare HPE 3PAR storage requirements for each of the above servers by working with HPE.
• Maintain and manage Cisco Nexus Switches through upgrades and configuration updates.
• Maintain and manage Cisco ASR1K router configurations.
• Maintain and manage Juniper SRX 5400 configurations.
• Maintain and manage VMware ESXi platform and associated VMs deployed.
• Network engineer to operates data centers for customer-facing IoT services. The hardware is based on the Open Compute Project; the software includes Apache Mesos, DC/OS, plus a mix of Open Source, paid Open Core, and in-house software.
• BGP and firewall on the Frontend network
• Network services on the Backend network: haproxy, Nginx, FRR, container networking, various DNS
• Switch configuration management (Ansible)
• Spine switch and TOR switch operations (Cumulus Linux, HPE ComWare)
• Monitoring and alerting for network usage, DOS attacks

• Strong analytical and debugging skills
• Linux-based IP networking
• Linux container networking, CNI
• BGP (preferably open source FRR/Quagga)
• DNS (one of the binds, CoreDNS, Mesos-DNS, spartan)
• nginx, haproxy
• Typical tools such as curl, iftop, Nmap, ssh, socat, tcpdump

• Bachelor's or Master s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
