The Role: This position will participate on and/or coordinate projects from cradle to grave including but not limited to budget, justification, logistics coordination, equipment procurement, and implementation. This engineer will also procure analytical data and develop/establish operational methods related to the most efficient utilization of personnel, material and equipment. Emphasis will be placed on identification and implementation of lean manufacturing, cost improvements and proper utilization of Sensus assets. The successful candidate can expect to be involved with a wide variety of production and operational issues while operating as a point person for the manufacturing of products for the utility industry.

This position will be directly involved with New Product Launches locally and at remote locations. The successful candidate can expect to handle various tasks associated with support, coordination and documentation required to maintain efficient production of high volume electromechanical assemblies.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Identify/implement cost savings opportunities .
  • Analyze processes, evaluate product costing, and justify capital equipment, initiate funding request.
  • Display organizational and leadership skills in a project team environment.
  • Time study and establish rates for direct and indirect labor operations.
  • Develop Lean Production Cells and Plant Layouts.
  • Understand manufacturing work systems such as ECN and MRP.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form in both English and Spanish.
  • Understanding of PLC Logic, Test and Manufacturing Software that links assembly and test operations.
  • Investigate 5S, safety/ergonomic features, or the lack thereof, equipment, and fixtures and resolve related issues.
  • Support quality initiatives, identify poke-yoke opportunities and solutions to ongoing quality issues.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Experience in volume Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering function is required.
  • Knowledge of plastic injection molding, machining and/or electronic assembly/test is required.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Project. Autocad a plus.
  • Requires BS in Industrial /Manufacturing Engineering, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Understanding of industry practices and company policies/procedures
  • 2 - 5 years experience in and technical knowledge of high volume manufacturing and/or electronic assembly
  • Knowledgeable in use of classical IE functions, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Tools, Green Belt.
  • Travel maybe required in support of project work.
