Position title: Account Manager (Mass Market Retailers) – Yankee Candle
Location: Germany / home office
Reports to: Country Manager Germany
Contract type: Permanent, full-timeJob SummaryAs an Account Manager (Mass Market Retailers) you will be part of Home Fragrance Division, reporting directly to the Country Manager in Germany. You will be responsible for significant new business development initiatives targeting new mass retailers including Edeka, Rewe, DM and others. You will take overall responsibility for managing and developing existing and new retail accounts ensuring you achieve sales and margin targets, whilst championing brands Yankee Candle & Woodwick, and adding value to our customers.Key responsibilities:
  • New business and existing account development within the mass channel across Germany. Establishing direct relationships, securing listings and growing long term sustainable partnerships.
  • Account planning, proactive management of revenue/margins and best in class customer service in line with Newell Home Fragrance and retailer strategies.
  • Drive best practice in stock / sales forecasting & service / availability management.
  • Develop all aspects of the customer relationship from identifying new opportunities for growth to category management of on-going product listings. A regular face-to-face account contact strategy will be required to develop and maintain the value-added approach (weekly / bi-weekly meetings dependent on account).
  • Maintain full P&L (profit & loss) responsibility for managed accounts.
  • Work cross functionally to proactively manage product ranges through the full planning cycle and champion your account requirements in the process.
  • Create, own and proactively manage 12-month rolling promotional and above the line plans with account objectives in mind and engaging all relevant stakeholders in the process.
  • Coordinate and deliver best in class on-line and in-store experience as appropriate within brand guidelines.
  • Contribute to long term strategy creation and delivery in EMEA FDM (Food/Drug/Mass) Chanel.

Minimum qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in sales and/or account management and/or category management in mass market retailers sector
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
  • Good command of MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Willing to travel extensively
Preferred qualifications:
  • Detailed knowledge of major mass retailers including Edeka, Rewe, DM and others
  • High-energy self-starter as well as collaborative team player
  • Resilience and energy to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think strategically and influence others without authority
  • Good negotiation skills and passion to win customers
  • Ability to create collaborative, effective business relationships, across functions and channels
  • Ability to analyse financial data to drive informed decisions.
