What you’ll be doing...

We promise our customers the most reliable coverage across the country, and you’ll make sure we deliver on that promise. You’ll be a technical leader and subject matter expert in network performance for a large geographic area, proactively identifying new ways to improve speed and quality, and helping to resolve our most complex problems. We’ve got an increasing customer base using more devices every day, and their expectations are high—you’ll play a key role in making sure they’re never disappointed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across all Verizon markets for Radio.
  • Frequency (RF) planning, optimization of licensed and unlicensed bands.
  • Identify and resolve system performance related to network issues, and improve the customer experience.
  • Participate in and sometimes lead the evaluation of wireless Radio Access Network (RAN) related infrastructure, closely collaborating with the cross functional teams to execute trials in 4G/5G and other emerging technologies (IOT, M2M, C/V/O-RAN etc.) to evaluate capabilities in support of company requirements and goals.
  • Work with wireless network, including the RAN and Core. Work with LTE using technologies such as VoLTE, SIP, Wireshark, Moshell, Actix, Atoll, C-RAN, Iris View, SON, VoWiFi, QXDM, XCAL.
  • Provide feedback, support, and expertise to National and Territory teams for the automation of network parameter, feature, and process changes using fixed values and values calculated using network analytics
  • Maintain network performance by proactively identifying system performance affecting issues in the (Vo)LTE network.
  • Detect, report, and conduct a detailed analysis of unusual problems through the monitoring and tracking of systems/site/sector KPI's.
  • Support, research, and follow through until problem resolution by bringing necessary groups together to solve network system performance related matters.
  • Work with capacity engineering to monitor and trend capacity to ensure the network meets performance needs.
  • Coordinate and implement the most complex network directives andInvestigate third party benchmarking drives such as Root Metrics, Nielsen, and P3.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with system optimization, KPIs, and parameters of LTE for Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, or Motorola end-to-end wireless network architecture.
  • Experience with (Vo)LTE, EVDO, CDMA2000-1X air interfaces.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends, and occasionally travel overnight.

Even better if you have:

  • A Degree.
  • A Degree in electrical engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Experience with parameter optimization, trials, and statistical analysis.
  • Understanding of Ericsson LTE roadmap and plans for L14B, L15 and beyond, and how this relates to 3GPP standards.
  • Understanding of packet data networks analysis concepts. Ideally, including knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6) algorithms such as slow start or congestion control algorithm, IP measurement tools such as ping, traceroute, pathchar, snoop & tcpdump.
  • Understanding of Routing protocols like RIP, OSPF, BGP or SIP.
  • Experience with WireShark.
  • Ability to differentiate and diagnose RAN, EPC, and IMS CORE related problems.
  • Experience with ANR, CMDS, Carrier Aggregation (CA), 4X Transmit, 4X Receive, AWS, TMA’s, RET, RRH, or Ericson AIR antenna products.
  • Understanding of Advanced Calling (VoLTE), SIP, and the analysis of SIP messaging using Irisview.
  • Experience with RTT, e-health, ELPT, Chicago web, Mars, SAM, Agilent Access CDMA, Actix, Windcatcher, NLT, Zite/SSAT, Mapinfo, Geoplan, and any network optimization tools.
  • Experience in RF design.
  • Understanding of core network including but not limited to PDSN, CSR router, WDN router, Aggregate Router, (P,I,&S)CSCF, PCRF, AAA, HSS, MME, SGW, PGW, IMS, 7750 and Cisco 9K, 10K & 1K routers.
  • Knowledge of one scripting language such as perl or visual basic.
