This role is scoped as a 6-month contract with the option to extend. About the Team Artists and organizations in the UK have launched 43,000 projects since we opened here in 2012. Backers have pledged millions of pounds to support these creative ideas. Our small but dynamic UK team is inspiring and expanding the community of creators using our platform, running special initiatives and events focused on equipping creators with skills and confidence to bring their projects to life. These include workshops for women and nonbinary people of colour and a programme for artists developing socially-engaged art projects. About the Role We are looking for an experienced communications consultant to help our UK team build greater awareness and excitement about our platform in new and existing communities of creators and backers across the country.

In This Role, You Will:

    • Execute media pitching and promotion of special initiatives and featured creative projects in the UK, with a particular focus on social impact projects and our comics, performance and design categories.
    • Support responses to incoming UK-based media requests.
    • Create inspiring and impactful messaging for events that help build and maintain relationships with our audiences.
    • Develop UK-specific content for Kickstarter channels, including email newsletters and blog posts.
    • Build a comprehensive media contact list and identifying new media relationship opportunities for key UK staff.
    • Identify UK trends and opportunities to raise awareness of Kickstarter and creator profiles, not just in the metro London area but across the UK.

About You

    • You can demonstrate past success in pitching pieces to both mainstream and culture-focused news outlets.
    • You are confident in your writing skills.
    • You are knowledgeable in some of the creative fields that are a particular focus for Kickstarter in the UK (art, comics & illustration, crafts, design, film, publishing and theatre).
    • You have press contacts in these fields as well.
