Job Description

Role Summary:

Looking to be a part of a multidimensional software engineering team? Come lead complex software development projects utilizing Linux and Microsoft Windows based compilers! Debug tools in the design of embedded avionic systems and complementary ground support equipment. This position will work for the Avionica Joint Venture.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development of, and retain ownership of, complex engineering projects throughout life-cycle
  • Demonstrate a commitment to process / policy compliance and a willingness to promote continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate familiarity with electronic and embedded computer circuit to test and debug developing embedded software and firmware
  • Design and coding of software and software algorithms utilizing sound engineering practices
  • Document and processes with consistency to RTCA DO-178 software design and documentation standards
  • Support the design and verification of completed software design including, but not limited to: product and software design specifications; test specifications and reports and operating Manuals and User’s Guides
  • Aid in development of test software necessary for the production test of release products
  • May utilize VHDL to implement necessary functionality within FPGA based designs
  • Participate crafting electronic circuitry utilized in developing products

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in design, implementation, and support of embedded systems
    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

    Desired Characteristics:

  • 1 year full life-cycle DO-178 B documentation development experience
  • Experience with developing Graphical User Interfaces, System Services, and Device Drivers for Microsoft Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Knowledgeable with embedded uCLibC CLibrary development
  • Skillful with configuration and compilation of Linux Kernel source
  • Understands GNU make and auto make build tools
  • Experienced with SVN, SourceSafe, GIT, or Team Foundation Server CM tools
  • Develop and implement test procedures, test cases, and requirements analysis
  • Experience with cross compiler and in-circuit debugging tools
  • Proven proficiency with a variety of software development languages, including: C; C++; Visual C++; TCL; BASH, etc
  • Experience with development processes on CMMI, ISO 9000 a plus
  • Strong ability to learn existing applications quickly and be productive
  • Ability to operate efficiently in a collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of digital circuits a plus
  • Working knowledge of IP based data networks and software
  • FAA Certifications including Pilot Certificate a plus
