Job Description

The Program Manager-Marketing Database Services consultatively leads technical conversations, and manages scope, risks, issues and expectations. They are the key liaison between a high-profile client and the Merkle Technology Teams. This is a highly visible position that will elicit and drive requirements for data projects and initiatives at multiple levels of detail for a Merkle client. This individual will work closely with cross-functional project teams comprised of Clients, Partners, Strategic Analysts, Account Executives, Technical Leads, and Project Managers. The Program Manager- Marketing Database Services should have strong internal and external communication skills, data analysis skills, as well as attention to detail and process acumen to accurately document requirements and acceptance criteria for any given project.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the marketing data expert for assigned client, proactively providing points of view on various marketing data topics utilizing specific data and solution knowledge in addition to prior experience
  • Synthesize complex and contradictory information into concise, readable, unambiguous written requirements and explanations at multiple levels of detail
  • Take primary ownership for data understanding and explanation, as well as written requirements specifications, from initial creation, through change management and solution delivery
  • Take direction from Technology leadership regarding schedule, scope, and cost tradeoffs
  • Assist with the delivery of enhancements into production solutions by designing and supporting the formal client acceptance process, according to Merkle’s defined standards
  • Accurately document requirements and acceptance criteria for a Merkle Marketing solutions including the marketing database, and related marketing technologies including campaign tools, and other service provider technologies
  • Perform analysis of new data for inclusion in a marketing database, and ad-hoc analysis of data in the database to support the requirements process

Qualifications

Communication: Ensure that all organizations participating in the client programs have the necessary information to fulfill their responsibilities. Must be able to consultatively speak with all members of the program team, including marketing and technical representatives both at Merkle and at the client

Quality: Ensure that the client's performance objectives are met for their program while also overseeing completion of deliverable's and adherence to timelines. Work closely with our client to understand and define program objectives and requirements.

Program Planning: Compile and own the program plan with contributions from all participating team members. Maintain the plan throughout the program, while tracking and communicating progress and milestone completions. Work across teams to identify and resolve issues and remove obstacles.

Client Service: Must be able to add value by thinking strategically about the client’s marketing strategy, think through and articulate clear process specifications to offer creative marketing solutions in order to create brand-consumer interactions that accelerate the client's growth.

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing, Business or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience as a business requirements analyst with full lifecycle software implementations (SDLC) involving large databases and other marketing technology solutions
  • Experience with test planning and use cases
  • Skilled with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio
  • SQL experience to conduct detailed data analysis
  • Work Queue management software (Team Track, Jira, etc.)
  • File management tools (PGP, Text Editors, CuteFTP, FileZilla, etc.)
  • Experience with Marketing Automation Platforms like Adobe Campaign or Salesforce Marketing cloud is considered a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a complex environment and rapidly master complex data structures
  • Exhibits intense curiosity, to dig beneath the superficial and identify facts
  • Ability to drive to the root of questions/issues/concerns, identify next steps, and efficiently and effectively get to resolution
