The Junior Accountant is responsible for providing support to the General Accounting department by managing daily accounting tasks inthe company ERP systems. The Accountant performs routine financial transactions, accounting duties and special assignments (e.g.: different calculations , analytics on different subjects, supporting audits). Prerequisite of this job is an understanding of basic business processes to enable the person to work effective and efficient in the field of General Ledger. He/ she will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.
The Junior Accountant, General Accounting works closely supervised and follows specific, detailed instructions. His / her contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other team members of the GA Team and other departments.
The Junior Accountant, General Accounting reports to the General Accounting Team Leader. Main Duties and Responsibilities: - Monthly closing of the general ledger of Acelity companies while performing all the tasks included in the applicable month-end closing checklist taking responsibility for all actions assigned to the individual ie. updating and signing the checklist (some activities in details: calculation and/ or review and posting of accruals, deferrals, and provisions etc., reconciliation or review of BS accounts; prepare month-on-month variance analysis for the trial balance etc.)
- Supporting timely data submission to the Acelity consolidation team
- Preparing basic monthly/ quarterly/ yearly reports to Acelity Internal Teams (e.g. Tax team) or external governmental/ statistical offices – in case required includes analysis
- Actively supporting internal and external (statutory or group) audits
- Actively support annual financial statement preparation
- Actively support tax calculations and declarations
- Executing internal control procedures; ensuring all relevant IA and BC guidelines are followed
- Completing all activities in a timely manner and in accordance with the country’s SLA and track necessary data needed for KPI reporting purposes
- Escalating issues/ problems and deviations from the standard process to General Accounting Team Leader/ Manager
- Identifying process improvement opportunities and actively participating in process improvement related projects
- Creating, maintaining and reviewing standard SOP’s, process maps for General Accounting processes
- Training new/ or existing team members as requested by Team Leader/ Manager
- Following Acelity’s record retention policies
- Initiate one to one discussions
- As sometimes requested by the line manager, it is your duty to carry out tasks that are non-contiguous with your role and your qualification if it does not conflict with any legislation
Requirements: - Must have a Chartered Accountant Certification or University/ College degree with qualification in Finance/ Accounting or Business Administration
- The selected candidate should have a minimum 0 – 2 year + relevant experience (AP / AR/ GL fields)
- Fluent English (verbal and written) is required; other foreign languages are an advantage
- ERP knowledge (Oracle, SAP etc.) is an advantage
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Strong MS Excel skills; good knowledge of other MS Office applications
- Candidate should be a team player and possess the ability to interact with external contacts and various departments

- Must be able to work independently
