Job Description

Internship Description HR Directions seeks a candidate for its client, RTI International, for a Corporate Communications Internship within the Corporate Communications group. The Corporate Communications group coordinates, integrates and aligns RTI's internal, external, brand and scientific stature communications efforts and programs at the institute level. Our team works with individuals and groups throughout RTI to develop and disseminate news and information concerning institute strategy, business plans, policies, research accomplishments and capabilities to both internal and external audiences. RTI's Internship Program emphasizes experiential and mentored learning experiences, providing students and recent degree recipients an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and skills in a meaningful and practical way. We are committed to developing the future workforce by encouraging interns to explore various career paths in a nonprofit research institute setting that values diversity and inclusion. Through this program, interns will become accustomed to RTI's open and educational culture, support RTI's mission to improve the human condition, and build upon career goals and grow. The intern will provide daily support across Corporate Communications functions.
The Corporate Communications Internship will be responsible for assisting the team in:
  • Writing and editing draft content
  • Working within content management system (CMS)
  • Assisting with social media
  • Helping with components of the scientific stature program
Additional Information
This paid internship, located in RTP, NC will take place from May 2020 through August 2020.
The internship requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours (8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday).
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student, who studied or is studying one of the following fields: English, Communications, Journalism
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, website development, social media planning and implementation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of research methods
  • Passion for communications and RTI's mission to improve the human condition
  • Experience working in an office environment
