Job summary

The Global Financial Analytics team is looking for a Data Analyst Intern to support ongoing data analysis and visualization projects, in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work closely with various finance teams and leadership to develop and deliver data models, dashboards, and key insights. You will have functional or educational experience in the area of finance and analytics, project experience in data storytelling, and visualization best practices. You will need to have technical skills including data mining, cleansing, integrations, and proficiency in technical tools such as Tableau. As a Data Analyst Intern you will demonstrate resourcefulness, autonomy and creative ways to assess and cultivate the Red Hat workforce.

Primary job responsibilities

• Work with key stakeholders to identify and prioritize the development of key organization data sets
• Work with data engineers to understand data architecture and best practices for consumption
• Design impactful visualizations that efficiently enable decision making
• Perform data audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Partner with finance and IT to drive scalability of organizational and enterprise-ready data models as needed
• Correlate data across multiple core platforms
• Support the building, management, and governances of an organizational data warehouse
• Partner with peer data visualization experts to share best practices and drive consistency across the enterprise

Required skills

• Proficiency in Tableau or other data visualization platforms
• Organized and detail-oriented with advanced capabilities in design
• Experienced in collaborating with IT and enterprise-data owners to drive solutions
• Excellent interpersonal, team collaboration, and communication skills
• Ability to manage time efficiently and multitask
• Great troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Passionate about telling data stories through visualization and dashboards
• Familiarity with basic extract, transform, load (ETL) processes and programming languages including SQL and Python as well as solid understanding of data architecture best practices
• Business administration, finance, or analytics degrees are a plus
