Data Scientist - Advanced Analytics

Who You'll Work With

You’ll be part of our Advanced Analytics team in Istanbul, Turkey, partnering with consultants, clients and other colleagues.

You’ll work with McKinsey consulting teams to carry out complex data analysis and modeling, creating a foundation for sound recommendations for client studies and internal projects.

What You'll Do

You will focus on the development of Advanced Analytics models to optimize underlying business problems.

You will work with data from diverse structured and unstructured data sources in both batch and streaming modes. You will work with consultants, clients or internal teams to prepare complex data analyses and models that help solve client problems and deliver significant measurable impact. Often you'll manage the entire analytical process – from outlining the type of solution through implementation, interpretation of results and transferring capabilities to the client or colleagues.

Additionally, you will constructively discuss your findings in collaboration with consultants and clients while always looking for the best solution. Working on projects and exchanging experiences with your colleagues means you will face new intellectual challenges on a daily basis, while continuously building your methodological knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

• Strong academic qualifications with a Bachelor’s degree and/or Advanced degree (MS / PhD) typically in a quantitative discipline or related field
• Hands-on work experience with deep technical know-how in machine learning, statistical or heavy numerical analyses, predictive modeling
• Proficiency in analytic / database software and languages such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, SPSS, etc.
• Proven comfort and an intellectual curiosity for working with very large sets of data
• Collaborative approach and strong team player; willingness to pull in colleagues to help identify issues as needed
• Demonstrate strong multi-tasking abilities, flexibility, and patience in a fluid environment
• Strong communication skills, including ability to translate complex information into simpler terms for all audiences
• Possesses professional attitude and service orientation, able to develop trust-based relationships with clients
• Independently drives and prioritizes analytic approaches with critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
• Strong desire to learn and develop, within a dynamic, self-led organization
