Overview
The Downstream Product Manager will be responsible for leading the introduction of new Ion system hardware, I&A, and software product releases into the market, maintaining supply continuity of existing products, and managing end-of-life activities for discontinued products. This role will work very closely with upstream product managers, manufacturing (NPI), service, PMO, quality engineering, and field sales, and will be instrumental to the smooth introduction of a new robotic medical device undergoing rapid product development cycles. The ideal candidate will possess high attention to detail, a natural inclination towards cross-functional collaboration and communication, a passion for process and organization, comfort with data and analytics, and a positive and selfless attitude in the face of adversity.
Primary Responsibilities and Functions
• Manage the final phases of the business review process across the entire Ion product portfolio, including system hardware, system software, I&A and associated documentation to plan and execute smooth product introductions
• Develop SKU-level forecasts for new product introduction to ensure supply continuity as prior versions are phased out and new version are phased in
• Partner with Service to plan and execute in-field system hardware and software upgrades, including building models to optimize upgrade cycle speed and cost, and ensuring smooth execution and communication for the customer
• Partner with finance and manufacturing to monitor and update SKU forecasts to ensure optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand
• Serve as the owner of the “account readiness process”, ensuring that the right processes and tools are in place to help field sales guide greenfield hospitals from purchase through installation and training to first procedures
• Partner with field sales on customer relationship management activities, including communication and resolution of product supply, quality and customer training issues
• Manage product allocation processes to minimize customer impact and ensure clear communication
• Drive development of customer-facing product documentation, including manuals, catalogues, and quick reference guides to aid customer understanding and utilization of Ion
• Serve as the primary point of contact for field sales for new product introductions, inventory, and product quality issues
