About this role:Foundations of Web Development @Stripe is a program for non-technical employees of Stripe, taught by Galvanize. During this program, we introduce students to fundamental web development skills including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and version control/git. We also help Stripe employees build empathy and understanding of some of the issues that their technical team members encounter on a day-to-day basis.
Students train 2 hours a day, two afternoons a week in a remote classroom environment for a total of six weeks. Teaching Assistants assist our instructors with training Stripe employees in Javascript fundamentals and engineering best practices. This role is a part time, temporary contract.
As the right hand people to the instructor, Teaching Assistants are the support center of the Stripe cohorts. They help students technically and mentally as they navigate new material, help set and manage classroom expectations and culture, and get people excited to learn.
The day-to-day duties include: - Communicate with instructors to ensure that students are progressing and getting the assistance they need
- Give feedback on code patterns and help students debug
- Provide mentorship on best practices for language and environment concepts
- Manage the Slack team
- Moderate the virtual classroom chat
- Generate community spirit
What We're Looking For- Software engineer experience, particularly regarding Javascript knowledge
