What you’ll be doing...

This position is for the Wireless Edge Network Support team, an operations Tier 2 support team. This is a position on a high visibility team responsible for preventing and resolving network outages on the Verizon Wireless network. Responsibility ranges from short term break/fix outages to longer term implementation projects to improve network resiliency including:

  • Troubleshooting network issues including app issues masquerading as network issues.
  • Using network troubleshooting tools to isolate network issues across a large multi-site network.
  • Leading projects across multiple working groups to improve network reliability.
  • Partnering with network design teams to update designs, based on flaws, bugs or improving network performance.
  • Vendor management and accountability.
  • Handling multiple wireless networks such as eNSE, MEC, MSE, MPLS core, EDN, Enterprise, WDN, WSN, IT, WVN, FES, SDN Spine/Leaf Fabrics, IEN, NEC IP environment network operations and support.
  • Managing small to large issues and outages, isolating problems to specific devices and segments even when the path to resolution is not clear.
  • This position may require you to be part of an on-call rotation.
  • This position will include night and weekend implementation work.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of routers, switches, Firewalls, load balancers and how they are used to create end-to-end connectivity.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and F5 devices.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Experience with Pronghorn or other implementation tool or tools used to configure Cisco, Juniper, FWs.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience coding network automation and/or remediation.
  • Experience Github with python coding.
  • Service provider experience.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and SDLC/DevOps concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and high visibility situations.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Ability to triage and prioritize network outages.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Cisco NP Certifications.
  • Juniper NP Certifications.
