About the Role We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer passionate about building the future of real estate transactions. At Opendoor we handle billions of dollars of home sales every year, and our team is working on visionary tools to facilitate these transactions in a more low-cost and painless way than ever before possible. Every engineer at Opendoor has an outsized impact, conceiving and owning their projects in an innovative new problem space, reaching tens of thousands of customers every month and growing quickly with the pioneering origin company of a rapidly evolving new business sector.

In this role, you will:

    • Design and build products that will help bring efficiency to modern real estate transactions and empower everyone with the freedom to move
    • Be on the ground-floor engineering brainstorming effort to analyze and improve our vendor partner interactions -- a large area of the business with potential for incredibly impactful ideas
    • Advise the team in designing solutions to original problems while making intelligent and pragmatic technical trade-offs
    • Turn product, design, and user input from ideas into tools, and see the impact of your work on the industry
    • Become a domain expert in real estate
    • Work with a crew of talented (and fun!) teammates in an engineering-driven environment

We’re looking for an individual who has:

    • 6+ years of industry experience
    • Broad understanding of the whole engineering stack and how it fits together
    • Advanced knowledge in at least one programming language
    • A sense of ownership for everything you ship
    • Experience with balancing delivery and technical excellence
    • Experience with modern development practices: sprint planning, code review, continuous deployment, testing frameworks, etc

Even Better:

    • Experience with React Native
    • Experience with Go, Typescript or Python
    • Experience with Microservices
    • Familiarity with gRPC and Kafka
    • Familiarity with Ruby
    • Familiarity with AWS products, Kubernetes, and Concourse
