Controls Engineer

Job Description

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a highly motivated, “hands-on” individual to join our controls team in the development and implementation of leading edge machine controls systems for a new generation of high speed, automated manufacturing equipment. The role includes machine control design, PLC programming, HMI design and machine start-up with some travel for machine installation and commissioning support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design of control systems for custom engineered, automated machinery and robotics including selection of appropriate control components/sensing systems, preparation of electrical and pneumatic schematics, panel layouts, PLC program development, HMI design, servo motor controls, vision systems, operating controls & other interfaces.

Assist with machine start-up, testing and systems installation.

Provide on-site service and support including system controls documentation & preparation of operating manuals.

Requirements:

· 5+ years of experience in industrial automation controls design.

· Good English communications skills (written and verbal).

· Experience with PLC program development for custom automated machine systems, servomotor controls, vision systems and data acquisition platforms.

· Electrical, Electro-Mechanical or Electronics Eng. Degree or diploma.

· Exposure to various PLC models and brands (Beckoff, Allen Bradley, Siemens).

· Familiar with field sensing devices, laser, proximity, and analog sensors.

· Familiar with AC and DC motor controls including a variety of servomotor controls.

· Familiar with pneumatics and pneumatic control logic.

· Familiar with EPlan schematic development software.
