Role Summary:

The Product Support Analytics Engineer will have global responsibility covering Avionic, Mechanical, Power and Propeller data validation, analysis and automation across the Aviation business. The Product Support Analytics Engineer will provide and assist in providing applied statistics/ applied life data problem-solving support on a wide range of data analysis efforts and initiatives. Define and develop strategy to implement advanced predictive analytics tools and visualizations.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will utilize applied statistical / machine learning techniques to solve internal and external customer engineering / business problems. You will also be engaged in mentoring / coaching other members of the engineering community in Applied Statistics. Key responsibilities include:
• Drive data validation and automation strategy, including process development and training. Develop, support and maintain tools to automate deliverables for the Aviation business.
• Define and develop strategy to implement advanced predictive analytics tools and visualizations. Support evaluation and implementation of improved analytics tools and techniques for GE Aviation Systems. Lead acquisition and implementation of data sources (internal, customer, airframer, supplier and MRO data)
• Reliability/In-Service Performance. Clean, validate and categorize datasets/sources, as required. Complete contractual, non-contractual, and ad-hoc data and reliability requirements, as assigned
• Develop statistical models for specific issues, execute accurate analyses and provide clear link between statistical results and physics
• Communicate technical content to satisfy requests using appropriate media (e.g. presentation) to a variety of stakeholders at all levels
• Provide statistical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization
• Adhere to departmental compliance, company policies and government regulations

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, operational research, data science or business/IT discipline from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED with 4 years of experience in Engineering/Technology)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with data cleansing, validation, and automation of large datasets, from multiple sources, problem solving using statistical analysis techniques, machine learning to solve engineering issues
• Intermediate to expert skills in Statistical Software, with the ability to adapt to a variety of IT tools and Programming / Scripting Language experience (R, Python, etc)

Desired Characteristics:

• Knowledge and understanding of the Aerospace industry or Aviation products and experience performing reliability engineering or FRACAS activities.
• Strong knowledge of Statistical tools, models and their real world application
• Ability to drive improvements in efficiency for multiple, concurrent projects
• Problem Solving – Ability to analyze, identify and develop solutions to problems using a wide range of data
• Experience with R, Python, VBA, SQL and/or Oracle databases
• Exposure/experience with data science techniques or predictive analytics tools
• Knowledge of export control and/or government restrictions regarding data management
