IDEO Munich is in search of a Product Designer who is passionate about designing elegant user experiences, complex systems, and bringing interactions and experiences to life through prototyping new to the world digital experiences.

As a digital product designer at IDEO, you’re able to influence cutting-edge technologies, products, and services. You will use human-centered design as a means of solving complex problems and creating innovative products, services, and experiences.

Once here you will:

• Focus on a wide range of digital work across web, mobile, and embedded technology
• Tightly collaborate with software designers and developers, both internal and external, to bring new products to the market.
• Design new-to-the-world interactive experiences through prototyping, information architecture, data visualization, storytelling, systems thinking, animation/motion, front-end design, building interactive experiences, and even creating build-ready assets
• Work in a highly collaborative environment, along with other designers bringing diverse perspectives and expertise to the opportunity at hand.
• Explore the full spectrum of design, strategy, and development to bring new products/organizations/systems to life.
• Be an advocate of exceptional visual and experiential design through doing rather than talking.
• Go out into the world for inspiration, spot opportunities for innovation, and bring inspiration back to our client partners and their stakeholders
• Get to work on a broad range of client challenges in various industries

As a Product Designer at IDEO you may be expected to travel in and outside Germany as part of our normal business, typically for durations of a few days to a couple of weeks across Europe and internationally. It varies year-to-year depending on the location of our clients but travel can be as much as 30% of your time to countries all over the world.

Mandatory experience:

• Fluent in English, as our office language is English
• Bachelor’s and/or Masters Degree in design or other relevant design work experience

Relevant experiences:

• 2+ years interaction/graphic design experience across a variety of digital media
• Expertise in visual, user interface design: applying the principles of graphic design (typography, color, grid, hierarchy, etc) to digital and embedded experiences.
• Interest in new technologies, UX and design trends, and how we can bring them together to form better interactions and user experiences.
• Passion for design excellence: You know the difference between ‘good’ and ‘great’ and are able to work within dynamics that challenge teams, clients, and timelines to deliver world-class solutions.
• Prototyping with a range of tools, including new-to-market, interactive, and motion-based tools.
• You have strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills. You can communicate the value of design and brand within a design and business context, and you can tell compelling project stories to bring your work to life.
