Job Description
Role Summary:
The Lead Test Engineer will work with a team of engineers to develop and support products within the aerospace market. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting product design engineering by leading the creation & execution of test procedures, the development of necessary test fixtures plus root cause investigations related to all testing phases. The products include bleed air pneumatic valves, linear actuators, fans and blowers used in aerospace applications.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead aerospace test projects through all phases of testing from initial design through certification and release
- Review specifications leading to development of test requirements and plans
- Write test procedures used to validate aerospace components to meet needs of the project, customer, and company
- Develop cost and schedule estimates
- Design and validate test setups for specialized product testing including test hardware, instrumentation, data collection, and/or software
- Communicate current test project status, issues, and risks
- Analyze test data, evaluate results, and write technical test reports
- Prepare material for and participate in customer reviews and presentations
- Work with external vendors to acquire test equipment or support outsource testing as necessary
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard test engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams such as lab technicians, design engineering, production, configuration management, and program management
- Perform peer reviews and mentor engineers and technicians
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Test Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with CAD modeling using Solidworks for fixture design and drawings
- Experience with LabVIEW for testing applications and data collection
- Knowledge of testing equipment, sensors, and data acquisition used in a laboratory environment
- Comfortable with “hands-on” laboratory activities such assembling test setups using basic hand tools
- Strong understanding of airflow and thermodynamics
- Highly motivated with ability to work independently
- Detail oriented with strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective problem identification and solution skills
