Role Overview

Perform the duties of Engineering Flight Test Pilot while acting as Pilot-in-Command on Collins Aerospace-owned or operated aircraft to accomplish development, certification and demonstration of Collins Aerospace avionics.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform the duties of Engineering Flight Test Pilot while acting as Pilot-in-Command on Collins Aerospace-owned or operated aircraft to accomplish development, certification and demonstration of Collins Aerospace avionics. Maintain situation awareness at all times. Exercise good judgment when making in-flight and on-the-ground decisions.
  • Safely execute all flights by utilizing professional flying and flight planning skills in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration, and the policies and procedures of the Collins Aerospace Flight Operations Manual.
  • Utilize Crew Resource Management skills to ensure that all available resources are used, including checklists, instrumentation, other crewmembers, ATC, etc. Regularly review and maintain a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, flight procedures, SOPs, FARs and ICAO regulations. Maintain proficiency in other disciplines (i.e., Meteorology) necessary for safe planning and execution of test flights. Maintain flight currency requirements at all times.
  • Offer positive and constructive feedback to associates and assist others to achieve higher levels of performance.
  • Successfully participate in and apply learning from company-sponsored training.
  • Ensure that all activities are in compliance with all appropriate United Technologies and Government EH&S, Diversity and Ethics policies and guidelines.
  • Perform additional tasks and acquire varying responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Must be able to travel worldwide without restriction.

Qualifications

  • An Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with Multi-engine and Instrument Ratings
  • Minimum of 3500 hours pilot flight experience
  • Must display professional bearing and utilize strong interpersonal skills.
  • Relocation required to Cedar Rapids, IA.

Basic Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 12 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required.
