Sr. Director, Quality Assurance

Job Description

SUMMARY:Establishes, maintains and directs the company’s global quality assurance program for apparel, footwear and accessories based in Hong Kong. The program includes managing a globally based team in 20+ countries and collaborating closely with 100+ tier suppliers. The role ultimately drives our total quality platform and is responsible for ensuing our products are manufactured to our specifications. The role is also responsible for identifying non-standard product and managing defective issues throughout the production and product creation teams. The role closely liaises with product development, innovation, materials, compliance, sourcing, and manufacturing. Manages the QA technology platform, testing, audits and supplier certification criteria.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESmay include the following. (Other duties may also be assigned).

• Manages the quality assurance evaluation process including establishing effective policies, procedures and priorities.
• Manages metrics and verifies the effectiveness of the Quality Process through review of periodic Internal Quality Audits.
• Manages and updates QA manuals and procedures as needed
• Managing product performance testing and compliance with all global in-market standards.
• Develops both internal and external procedures for managing rework policies and procedures
• Works with sourcing and logistics on chargeback and replacement communication.
• Manages B-Grade levels and accounting for B or C grade product liquidation.
• Provides ongoing factory quality KPI information, providing input into sourcing on factory performance.
• Develops and maintains effective contractor and UA liaison relationships and communications included cost offsets as needed.
• Participates in cross‐functional department business meetings.
• Confirms that compliance audit procedures are properly carried out. Manages inspection and adherence policies for all products.
• Determines overall factory product quality by establishing and evaluating various product tests and tests related to manufacturing and packaging. Evaluates and recommends corrective action when necessary with regards to product quality, setting timetables for corrective action.
• Functions as the UA apparel point person for information around quality issues.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will manage a QA team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree must possess equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 15 or more years’ quality control and manufacturing experience
• Familiarity with the various QC procedures/processes, and industry standards
• Experienced with managing products performance on a global scale including the US, LATAM, APAC and EMEA regions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Apparel, footwear, and accessories background is preferred
• Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to travel 30-50% of the time.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general financial statements, business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, etc.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
