Boeing Phantom Works Space creates the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Phantom Works focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

The Boeing Defense, Space and Security, Phantom Works division, is seeking an Electrophysics Engineer (Level 3) to provide support to the Resilient Space Technologies Group. The Resilient Space Technologies Group is part of Boeing Phantom Works which creates differentiated capabilities and services by relentlessly pursuing innovation in design, thinking and execution. This position will manage the operation of numerous Phantom Works classified and unclassified laboratories in the El Segundo and Sylmar, CA facilities. This include the VENUS lab used for studies with International Space Station and Commercial Crew Program. This position coordinates with Phantom Works and Space & Launch senior management as well as all support organizations for the smooth operation of these labs. This position is located primarily in El Segundo, CA with occasional work in Sylmar, CA.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Works with Boeing Property Management and Calibration in compliance with Boeing and Government requirements.
• Works with Facilities and Security to comply with Boeing and Government requirements.
• Works with Environmental Health and Safety and the Laser Safety Officer to comply with Boeing, State, and Federal requirements.
• Facilitate resource allocation between labs with engineering and program management.
• Forecast and generate capital asset requests for all lab related modifications and hardware/labor.
• Procure capital asset resources (material and labor) related to lab modifications.
• Manage lab-related indirect budgets.
• Support program execution as needed with balance of time available.
• Assists in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts for capital requirements.
• Works under general supervision.

This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance with a SSBI (Single Scope Background Investigation), for which the U.S Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

• Experience working with support organizations and managing ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
• Experience in the corporate and Government procurement process and subsequent property management/tracking process.
• Experience generating, gaining approval, and executing capital budgets.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

• Experience leading projects in space flight laboratory.
• Experience managing a space flight laboratory.
• Experience working with a variety of lab test equipment (electrical, RF, optical, etc.).
• Experience generating, gaining approval, and executing capital asset requests.

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
