Job Description
Space and Airborne Systems (SAS), Systems Engineering Center (SEC) is seeking a talented, security minded individual to intern with the Secure Systems Department. This position is in a technical growth area and we need individuals who can apply their technical knowledge and experience to system security engineering and program protection concerns within the key areas of cybersecurity, anti-tamper, software assurance, supply chain exploitation, and threat and design vulnerability analysis. The intern will participate in the development of embedded and networked security solutions, and will be responsible for executing specific tasks in support of cybersecurity efforts for secure system products. Activities will consist of security subsystem specifications, security subsystem architecture, interface descriptions, RMF assessment and authorization, and vulnerability assessments.
This individual must be able to work as a member of a team in coordination with engineers in development, integration, test and modeling. The individual will exhibit a high degree of creativity and ingenuity, and will be responsible for helping the team develop advanced systems /security integrity and information assurance leveraging RMF guidelines and concepts. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with both team members and team leads, and may be required to brief senior SAS and customer leadership teams.
For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
- G04 (College Junior by Fall 2020) - must have completed 60 hours of college
- G05 (College Senior by Fall 2020) - must have completed 90 hours of college
- NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2020) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program
Required Skills:- Familiar with designing, implementing, testing, or fielding real-time security-oriented solutions (embedded experience highly preferred).
- Exposure to cybersecurity standards, methods, and policies; risk and threat analysis; technical security safeguards; and operational security measures.
- Experience working in a team environment
- Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2020
- Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Desired Skills:- Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- At least one Industry recognized Cybersecurity Certification, compliant with DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level I
- Risk Management Framework (RMF) experience
- Some experience with secure real-time operating systems.
- Experience with commercial-off-the-shelf cybersecurity technologies and trusted products.
- Experience using security-relevant tools and devices for security auditing, network security, host/server security, communication security, or policy management.
- Experience in at least one of the Program Protection Areas: Anti-Tamper (HW, SW, Systems), Cyber Security, SW Assurance, etc.
- Experience with NSA Crypto
- Experience with assessment and authorization of cryptographic, anti-tamper, cybersecurity and other security-related engineering products / systems
- Experience with multi-level security, performing reverse engineering
- Experience with Integrated Product Development System, System Architecture
Required Education (including major): Currently pursuing a BS degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior OR pursuing a MS/ PhD by Fall 2020. Must be working towards a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university in progress.
