The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
This Nursing Supervisor position is responsible for the supervising the nurses and techs providing procedural care and moderate sedation. The supervisor also supports professional growth and developmentn of team, and serves as a member of the clinic emergency response team. This position reports to the Nurse Manager, Procedure Suite, Imaging Observation and Pulmonary Function.
Responsibilities
Department responsibilities:
- Assists manager with daily departmental functions (staffing, scheduling, hiring, etc.)
- Assists with the development and monitoring of hospital and departmental specific competencies for nursing and technical staff.
Patient and staff safety:
- Whenever possible responds to emergent or urgent medical situations in the Clinic
- Documents administration of drugs and other agents properly
- Documents all nursing care activities accurately and in a timely fashion
Provides care to patients as part of the overall care team:
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families
- Informs charge nurse or nurse supervisor of high-risk situations or operational issues
- Participates in continuous performance improvement and quality efforts
- Ensures that proper techniques and practices are followed according to approved policies and procedures
Responsible For Maintaining And Developing Own Skills:
- Participates in continuing education programs
- Participates in peer evaluations and keeps current in area of expertise through journals, books, and nursing conferences
- Participates in professional organizations

- Follows time and attendance standards
- Adheres to dress code and personal appearance

Qualifications
Required:
- BSN or BA/BS in related field
- Current, active Washington State Registered Nursing license
- ACLS certification (if not current, then must be obtained within six months of hire), renewal every two years
- Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
- Successful completion of UW Medical Center Sedation Training Program (must be completed within six months of hire)
- Recent experience PACU/ICU/ED/IR/Endoscopy RNs with moderate sedation experience
- Minimum 3-5 years as a Registered Nurse and 2 years of previous leadership experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven project management skills and committee experience
- Proficiency in basic computer skills (EMR, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to work under pressure related to work/time deadlines
- Ability to provide feedback about staff performance to staff
- Strong teaching ability
- Ability to lead committees
Preferred:
- Master's degree in nursing or related field
- Basic working knowledge of Office 365 programs
- Oncology or transplant infusion experience
