The Role: Xylem seeks to hire an intern for Summer 2020, as a member of our System Integration Team, the candidate will provide integration, verification, automation support for the Sensus portfolio of water, gas and electric metering products and AMR and AMI systems along with Automation Development and execution. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment, while ensuring that project initiatives are met. The candidate will also work closely with software and hardware developers to insure the full integration of quality products. Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Interested in executing complex test plans for product and system verification
  • The ability to help setup, manage, and support various test environments
  • Desire to participate in the development and execution of manual and automated test runs
  • Drive and help to establish best practices and testing processes
  • Has the ability to help develop automation framework
  • Has the ability to log detailed defects for various Engineering teams, including step-by-step instructions to recreate the problem
  • Has the desire and ability to learn new tools, languages and testing techniques
  • Has a strong sense of ownership and drive
  • Desire to learn from experienced engineers, architects and Managers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has strong customer focus

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Attending an accredited University studying toward a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of test methodologies and statistical tools used to solve problems
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally with both local and remote sites
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams
  • The right attitude is a must
  • Desire to succeed
  • Have some exposure to C#, Java, or C++ programming languages
  • Coursework working with Software, Data Networking, operating systems, or computer architecture
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards
  • Exposure to Oracle / SQL databases big plus
