Job Description

Job Background and Context

  • Part of Credit Risk team
  • Global and local regulatory requirements relating to Credit Risk
  • Responsibility for regulation interpretation and assessment, and recommendations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements impacting Credit Risk
  • Supports activities relating to regulatory processes impacting Credit Risk (e.g. ICAAP)
  • Active engagement with Business and Control functions to deliver on the above

Key Responsibilities

In close cooperation with the Country Risk Manager and as part of the ICG Regional Credit Risk team, responsibilities include :

  • Evaluate local regulatory matters (policies, laws, and regulatory and supervisory requirements in relation to Citi’s Credit Risk activities) (“Local Credit Risk Regulation”) in the countries, and how these are to be complied with through either Citi global, regional or local credit risk policies, standards and/or processes (“the Credit Risk Policies and Procedures”).
  • Ensure that regulatory mapping to independent Risk-owned controls is accurate, maintained and appropriate as required per the Regulatory Inventory Mapping firm-wide initiative. The individual will have a keen understanding of the independent Risk Segment they support and the relevant activity and controls executed by the specific independent Risk Segment. Furthermore, they will be experts in the independent Risk area's Managers Controls Assessment process in order to ensure mapping is accurate and maintain during critical change management events.
  • The individual will be responsible for partnering with independent Risk Management staff to affirm proposed mapping, challenge ICRM led mapping and act as a Subject Matter Expert in articulating, to internal and external stakeholder, the coverage areas of the independent Risk Segment they support.
  • The individual will partner with the Risk Governance: Risk Controls and Issue Management Team to relay feedback from Risk SMEs and to assist in the Risk-wide execution of the Regulatory Inventory Mapping program and ongoing sustainability of the initiative inclusive of the change management triggers as noted above. Furthermore, the individual will partner within their Risk Segment coverage area to prioritize remediation efforts and communicate with the Risk Governance: Risk Controls and Issue Management team to ensure issues are appropriate raised and remediated. Furthermore, the individual will engage in internal and external review processes that inquire on regulatory inventory mapping to help represent their Risk Segment support area in conjunction with the Risk Assessment Unit owner, who is ultimately accountable for the regulatory applicability mapping.
  • Development, drafting and recommendation of local Credit Risk Policies and Procedures to comply with Local Credit Risk Regulation in the absence or limitation of Citi policies, standards and/or processes. Follow the changes in local Banking Law and procedures, provide update if needed on a timely basis.
  • Develops working knowledge of industry practices and standards in order to support understanding of the above activities
  • Assist with regulatory inquiries and/or examinations impacting Credit Risk, including regulatory required reporting.
  • Support in activities impacting regulatory requirement and Credit Risk, for example, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Plan (“ICAAP”), IFRS9 activities and Basel related activities. If required, lead projects on behalf of Credit Risk.
  • Collaborate with other internal areas, including Finance, Compliance, Legal, Business Management, in the fulfilment of the above activities
  • Support/lead department’s risk related processes in line with Citigroup policies/procedures, i.e. GRC.
  • Coordinates and provides training to business units and functions on Credit Risk Regulation (Global and Local) and the Credit Risk Policies and Procedures, and other regulatory matters relating to Credit Risk

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in managing financial regulatory, franchise and governance matters. Knowledge of Local Credit Risk Regulation will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Citi Credit Risk policies or ability to quickly develop a working knowledge thereof
  • Experience in local regulations and policies, i.e. IFRS9, ICAAP
  • Good understanding of accounting, product and finance principles will be an advantage

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in Banking Credit Risk, Compliance, or other control-related function in a financial services firm, regulatory organization, or consulting firm, with a focus on Banking governance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Governance, Regulatory Law or relevant disciplines
  • A postgraduate degree or relevant professional qualification will be an advantage
  • Fluent English, Turkish (read, write and speak)
