Coatings Engineer

Job Description

Role Summary:

General Electric Marmara Technology Center, member of the General Electric Company, is looking for a "Coatings Engineer" with qualifications below:

Essential Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:
•Work with Coatings and Chemical Processes Production Quality group.
•Become a Certifying Agent in the area of coatings, including but not limited to Thermal Spray Coatings.
•Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
•Review, provide technical feedback, and may approve supplier documentation such as technical processing plans, process qualifications and MRB’s.
•Drive robust root cause and corrective action at coating suppliers including those resulting in a quality escape.
•Identify process improvements needed to drive better first time yield resulting in improved delivery.
•At times lead effort with Design and Materials Engineers on design for manufacturability improving producibility.
•Balance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects.
•Present product / program strategies, roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leaders.
•Be involved in complex decision making sometimes with external parties.
•Have the ability to identify proactive measures needed to improve quality.

Qualifications/Requirements:

•BSc in Materials Engineering.
•Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Must be capable of preparing technical reports and presentations to senior leadership levels within GE Aviation.
•Commitment to customer service.
•Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams.
•High level of written and oral communication skills in English.
•Proficient in use of Microsoft office tools.
•No military obligation for male candidates.
•No restriction with traveling abroad.

Desired Characteristics:

•Experience with and knowledge of aerospace industry.
•Prior experience in coatings technology (thermal spray coatings and/or diffusion coatings), preferably in aerospace industry.
•MSc. in related technical domain.
•Familiarity with shop operations and quality systems.
•Statistical Analysis skills.
•Effective interpersonal skills, which enable a learning approach to problem resolution.
•Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple programs/projects.
•Capable of leading root cause corrective action investigations and driving error proof solution implementation.
