Job Description
The Metadata Coordinator works as part of a team that accurately creates, enters, edits, and maintains Table of Contents (ToC), series, affiliations relationships, and metadata that aids customer discovery and navigation through internal channels and external search engines. They work closely with internal teams and manage queues to ensure the metadata they own is published correctly, accurately, and in a timely manner, and in accordance with search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Table of Contents Grooming, Reporting, and Queue Monitoring: The Metadata Coordinator is responsible for fact-checking, copyediting, and organizing ToC data received from internal and third-party sources in adherence with the Audible style guide. They perform this work on time-sensitive new releases, which enables them to have ToC on publication date, back catalog, and ToC-related special projects. They are also responsible for prioritizing work, delegating prioritized work to other operators where applicable.
· Series Relationship Research, Reporting, and Queue Monitoring: The Metadata Coordinator fact-checks and curates Audible Series pages for online display to customers, in accordance with internal best practices and customer feedback. They timely evaluate all new releases for correct association with existing series pages, or create new series pages based on their research, which may involve aggregating data from multiple third-party resources, internal teams, customers, or authors. In addition, they research and compile backlist book series information. Metadata specialists coordinate with and allocate tasks to global teams to achieve complete, accurate series information across the global catalog.
· Amazon and Audible Marketplaces Affiliations and Authorities Monitoring and Queue Monitoring: The Metadata Coordinator prepares and monitors daily reports to ensure correct and timely association of frontlist audiobook releases with print and eBook editions across Audible and Amazon marketplaces. They participate in specification and launch of new and emerging authorities, such as contributor, variation, recognition relationships. They also repair broken authorities and coordinate grooming initiatives in accordance with Amazon-standard best practices.
· Catalog Updates and Indexing/Copyediting: The Metadata Coordinator processes daily metadata change requests from customers, authors, and content providers via trouble tickets. As needed, they also index and copyedit product metadata to support daily processing of new titles.
· An avid consumer of online media, including books (audio and print), blogs, podcasts, and other digital content.
