Job summary

The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) Strategy and Enablement team is looking for an energetic Technology Business Management Analyst with a solid technology and financial management background to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work as part of the Technology Business Management team, which supports several capabilities in use today by Red Hat’s IT team, including IT Planning and Forecasting, IT Cost Transparency, and IT Showback teams. You’ll help us realize our vision to be a trusted source for understanding technology cost and consumption, enabling the business and IT teams to discover insights and promote value. You will serve as a subject matter expert in Apptio’s IT Planning and Forecasting capability, working with our Finance partners to deliver monthly IT forecasts. As a Technology Business Management Analyst, you will review and test the new IT Planning functionality released by Apptio, evaluate whether the functionality is fit for Red Hat IT, and develop training and communication plans for end users. You will also work with other Strategy and Enablement teams to find linkages and areas that can be automated. As part of the Technology Business Management (TBM) Office, you will work closely with other TBM analysts to support and streamline ongoing monthly processes, looking for opportunities to improve and automate for greater efficiencies. You’ll collaborate closely with IT and Finance associates at all levels within the organization.

Primary job responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on TBM and Apptio IT Planning
• Work with finance partners to perform month close activities in support of Red Hat’s corporate forecasting deliverables; this includes gathering, validating, and loading data files and working with finance and accounting to remediate data quality issues to minimize fallout
• Perform plan refresh steps for the 3 phases of month close, which are headcount refresh, OpEx financial refresh, and the full financial refresh; maintain close calendar with finance and manage communications to end users
• Collaborate on and develop change management, communications, and training with IT cost center owners and other key stakeholders on TBM process, tool changes, and enhancements
• Roll out regular tool enhancements, testing new functionality and communicating impact to end users
• Manage forecast and budget creation, submission and closure monthly, including managing reference data
• Import, transform, and rationalize data from systems of record like general ledger, fixed assets, Oracle, Service Now, etc.
• Coordinate the implementation and delivery of monthly financial reporting in partnership with the Finance team and other key stakeholders
• Manage incidents and troubleshoot data issues, solutions configurations, and performance and other issues with IT Planning
• Perform user administration activities for IT Planning
• Document processes and practices through knowledge base articles and perform updates and maintenance of our internal Mojo site
• Assist other technology business management analysts in support of tool and process improvements for other TBM capabilities

Required skills

• Solid understanding of and experience with financial management processes and best practices, like budgeting, forecasting, accounting practices, expense types, project planning, and program portfolio management
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple levels of management and associates across the organization
• Skilled at working with large data sets, quickly detecting and resolving data-related issues
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Apptio IT Planning and Forecasting experience a requirement

The following are considered a plus:

• In-depth understanding of the TBM framework, concepts, and best practices
• Solid IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or service management background
• Advanced analytical and data analysis skills
• Understanding of TBM taxonomy and IT infrastructure domains including datacenters, network and communications, server utilization, virtual environments, storage, and end user, security, and application development and support
