Job Description
The Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) product line within Space and Airborne Systems (SAS), designs and develops avionic communication equipment for the US military and various international customers. Our products include ground and airborne products that protect our airborne service men and women throughout the world.
We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced, Senior Technical Support Engineer to join our dynamic, diverse, and rapidly growing team. This position will provide support for our transponder, interrogator, and cryptographic products. You will learn how our products operate in order to support existing products as well as assist in the launch of new products. The successful candidate will be part of rapidly growing organization with many opportunities for growth within the organization.
This team is based in Aberdeen, Maryland and supports all aspects of the engineering life cycle of our product lines including support in the transition to production and sustainment of production. Job Description: - Learn the operation of our transponder, interrogator, and cryptographic products. Learn how to assemble, test, troubleshoot and repair these products.
- Perform system integration of these products for our growing customer base including the set-up of the test equipment in a test environment.
- Perform acceptance and qualification testing for these products that includes functional, environmental, and EMI testing.
- Assist in the transition to production for new product designs.
- Assist in the design and subsequent fabrication of test racks and test fixtures for the product test environments
Required Skills:- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Possess a DoD Secret security clearance.
- 4 years of experience as an electronic technician (may include military service).
- Hands on experience with the operation and repair of avionic equipment.
- Strong team leadership skills; ability to direct work efforts.
- Must be able to perform tasking with moderate guidance and minimal supervision.
- Willing to be IPC J –STD-001 certified and able to pass a solder proficiency test.
- Understand complex electrical systems including schematics, assembly drawings and parts list/BOMs.
- Must be able to travel and support offsite test activities.
Desired Skills:- Possess hands-on knowledge and experience with the electrical and assemblies.
- Have at least ten years of experience as an electronic technician (may include military service).
- Possess the communication skills necessary to accurately communicate redesign, repair or other technical changes.
- Have a positive attitude and capable of working in an environment that often has frequently changing task priorities and time related commitments.
- Have experience using standard and specialized test equipment and unit under test reconfiguration to support integration and qualification activities.
- Fundamental use of computer test software and test equipment
- Fundamental use Microsoft Office programs.
Required Education:- Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in Technology, Electronics, Engineering or a related discipline with 4 years of related experience or an Associate’s Degree in Technology, Electronics, or Engineering with 6 years of related experience or a Technical Degree in Technology, Electronics, or Engineering with 10 years of related experience
