Job summary

Contribute to the Red Hat decision-making and strategy planning process. The Red Hat Sales and Services Business Finance team is looking for a full time Data Science Intern to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will perform sales analysis to support the Red Hat Data Science team. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for sales reporting, sales planning, and strategic analysis support. Results of your work will be received directly by the Red Hat Executive team and board.

Primary job responsibilities

• Team up with senior analysts to compile detailed booking forecasts, sales metrics, and economic models
• Take initiative and provide fresh ideas to improve existing processes
• Compile, analyze, and interpret sales bookings data across all channels
• Participate in various structured and ad hoc planning and analysis projects
• Create spreadsheet models to support data-driven decision making

Required skills

• MBA or graduate degree in management, econometrics, or statistics with 0-1 year(s) of experience
• Good R or Python programming skills
• Good understanding of data querying, cleaning, and presentation
• Good spreadsheet skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to take complex business logic and translate it into functional system logic
• Ready to consistently work extended hours during periods of high demand
• Detail-oriented and enthusiastic; focused on and diligent in delivering results
• Passionate about choice in technology, open source, and Red Hat
• Ability to communicate persuasively; ability to inspire people
• Willingness to get the job done in a customer-friendly manner
• Good understanding of programming, scripting, or writing database SQL code is a plus
