In this role, you have the opportunity to:

Play a critical role in leading Product Reliability initiatives, for a world leader in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)-Superconducting Magnet technology.

You are responsible for:

In this role as Senior Reliability Engineer, you will focus primarily on Design for Reliability for the development and maintenance of superconducting MRI magnet products and technologies.

  • Driving specific initiatives as assigned in support of Design for Reliability activities such as reliability requirements, product metrics, usage models, DFMEA, derating analyses, Factor of Safety (FOS) analyses, reliability allocation and prediction models, reliability testing, etc.
  • Analyzing and leveraging installed base data to drive reliability improvements across the fleet to increase operational availability and reduce service cost.
  • Publishing regular metrics and reports on the reliability performance of the installed base using service, warranty and operational data sources.
  • Analyzing installed base operational data to characterize magnet system use profiles to support product requirements and develop usage-based reliability test protocols.
  • Planning, conducting and reporting on system and component level reliability testing on new and existing products. Employ accelerated life testing (ALT/HALT/HASS) methods to identify product failure modes and assure design robustness.
  • Expanding the reliability testing capabilities at the Latham, NY facility through the procurement of tooling and related test hardware.
  • Supporting the development of reliability plans for NPI and installed base products that documents tasks, methods, tools, tests, and analyses required for product success.
  • Preparing schedules and work estimates for plan activities.
  • Provide functional administration of the Design for Reliability toolset.
  • Actively participating in multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of product development to ensure successful execution of innovative and best-in-class designs.
  • Providing technical feedback to enhance the on-going quality of products and services.

You are a part of:

A talented Development Engineering team, working in close collaboration with Design & Drafting, Project Management, Systems Engineering, Service, Quality and Manufacturing throughout the product development lifecycle. This close collaboration provides an exciting opportunity to see the products come to life and ensure the final product meets design specifications and the expectations of the customer.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

Experience/Education:

  • Minimum of- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering-Mechanical/Electrical/Reliability/Systems or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 8+ years Reliability Engineering experience, with a focus in Design for Reliability in a new product introduction environment through product testing, data analysis and reliability methods.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated use of reliability and quality engineering methods and tools – DFMEA, life data analysis, reliability testing, statistical analyses, etc.
  • Application of 'big data' analytics using SQL, Oracle or equivalent database languages and statistical software to support product reliability and service initiatives.
  • Hands on experience in setting up tests, creating test fixtures and performing data acquisition, etc.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Software tools – Minitab/JMP, XFMEA, Weibull++, ALTA, SQL, etc.
  • Experience working with medical devices development (preferred) or similar safety-regulated products.
  • Experience with warranty data analysis, fleet monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Six Sigma (DFSS) certification Green Belt level or higher
