Role Description

As The Booking.com Transport Division continues its journey to be a fully data driven organisation, we are looking for an exceptional self-led data analyst who wants to join the Rides Team. This team focuses on offering pre-booked and on-demand taxis alongside a brand new “ticketed” offering (trains and buses). We are on track to sell more than a million rides this year, with more than 100% year on year growth

This Data Analyst (Commercial) role provides the opportunity to be a close business partner of our Commercial team who manage our fleet of over 900 local taxi companies, alongside our commercial relationships with major household on-demand taxi providers (Including Grab and Didi)

An ideal candidate would combine strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity and a collaborative and communicative style. Business partnering will be a key factor in this role, and ensuring you can empathize with the stakeholders you’re working with and build tools that truly work for them day to day

Core activities: The analyst would...

  • Fully own and maintain our Commercial reporting stack This would involve working to constantly update/redefine reports, city mappings and key metrics to ensure we’re making decisions based on great data
  • Deep dive into our trading performance on a weekly basis to understand the impact of city mix, alongside commercial trends such as average margin and average selling price. This feeds into a weekly meeting cycle with the Rides Management Team
  • Deep dive on high priority project work as/when required
  • Work with other analysts in Booking.com Rides Analytics to ensure best practices followed - we’re a centralized team who all sit together
  • Work directly with Commercial Managers and Analysts day to day

Core skills and experience that we are looking for

  • Strong SQL and excel skills for querying and exploring data sets
  • Working experience with PowerBI/Tableau or other data visualization tools
  • Experience of business partnering / stakeholder management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to varied and non-technical stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness, linking behaviors to business benefit
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively

Additional experience that would be beneficial

  • Hadoop experience
  • Some experience of working with Google Analytics
  • BigQuery experience
  • Awareness of AB testing methodologies and framework
