The Planned Parenthood Digital Products team, awarded this past year as the World's Most Innovative Company in Education from Fast Company, provides reliable and scalable applications and technology services in support of health care delivery, sexual and reproductive health education, advocacy, fundraising, and internal operations. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) seeks a dynamic a freelance experienced Data Scientist to help us define and build processes and systems for both Roo, our sex ed chat bot, and Spot On, our period and birth control tracking app. The Data Scientist will analyze behavioral data faster and more efficiently as our knowledge database grows at a rapid pace. Both of these products sit under the Digital Products Lab, a smaller team dedicated to digital innovation, as a subdivision of the Digital Products team. The Data Scientist will report directly to the Senior Director of the Digital Products Lab, and will work closely with the scrum team for both Roo and Spot On, our Digital Products Senior Analyst, and the Research and Evaluation team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Easy-to-use analytics solutions for Roo and Spot On that strategically cultivate data designed to reveal insights into users’ behaviors.
- Building tools for and implementing, monitoring, and iterating on AI-powered analyses for auditing of conversational, qualitative data found in Roo.
- Introducing AI-powered intelligence for Spot On to measure birth control adoption and working with the Research Evaluation team to make connections to societal change.
- Recommendations for third-party analytics products that are best suited to achieve organizational and digital strategic goals.
- Custom applications built across multiple analytics products where appropriate.
- Data visualizations and presentations, developed in partnership with the Senior Director, Digital Product Lab, for various internal and external audiences.
REQUIREMENTS / TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience.
- 3-4 years professional experience.
- You are fluent with SQL / relational algebra.
- You have mastered working with data in a language such as Python or R.
- Experience working with Google Analytics and Amplitude APIs.
- Significant experience applying machine learning to real business problems.
- Experience analyzing qualitative conversations, as well as quantitative actions and events.
