Job Description
- Day-to-day management of piracy cases, primarily for Disney Consumer Products, Disney Theatre Group and Disney Parks & Resorts including:
- liaison with external counsel throughout EMEA region;
- liaison with law enforcement agencies (e.g. Customs, Trading Standards)
- liaison with trade bodies and collecting societies (e.g. MPAA and PRS)
- online investigation into and presentation on potential opponents
- assisting in the review of cease & desists letters, court pleadings etc.
- facilitating examination of suspect product, working with business colleagues worldwide
- preparing takedown notices for submission to online marketplaces.
- Preparation of various internal reports re: antipiracy cases and programmes
- Briefing senior business colleagues on a range of issues
- Legal research regarding developments in copyright and trade mark law as well as routine research on trademark registrations and checks on other rights
- Assistance with legal billing system
- Preparation of witness statements
- Attendance at court hearing as witness including withstanding cross examination
- Management of evidence
- Attendance at external seminars
Skills and Experience- Ideally hold a law degree
- A background in litigation is preferred and experience of intellectual property and paralegal work would be helpful
- Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Diplomatic and professional handling of telephone and email communications
- Exceptional organisation, attention to detail and proofreading skills
- Solid drafting skills
We have an exciting new role to join the antipiracy team based in Hammersmith. The Antipiracy team protects Disney’s intellectual property for all LOBs, in multiple jurisdictions. This Physical Antipiracy role focuses on consumer goods and live events piracy in multiple territories in EMEA.
Preferred Education : Skills and Experience- Ideally hold a law degree
