Procurement Planning Specialist cum Expeditor

Job Description

Role Summary:

This dynamic role of a Procurement Planning Specialist will be responsible for placing orders with vendors and material planning to ensure that parts are delivered in the specified time to maintain lean inventories and meet the production schedules. Other responsibilities include reviewing material documentation compliance, creating PO and material planning analysis, and liaising with various internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee the material delivery of end-to-end from vendor sourcing to PO placement and tracking, to PO changes, to PO close.
• Surplus material return to vendor
• Material QA compliance review
• Determine type of material to purchase based on contract picking rule
• Plan, develop, implement material delivery to ensure continuous supply to production
• Tracking material consumption rate to forecast part to purchase.
• Source and develop a pool of alternative vendors with a view to reduce costs and lead-time
• Liaise with vendors to follow up on delivery status of spares purchases and to expedite deliveries via phone calls according to vendor operating hours of other region
• Utilise Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) in SAP to ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required
• Maintains system set ups within MRP system for each assigned supplier, including the use of EDI.
• Monitor materials flow to identify bottlenecks and forecast problems
• Ensuring materials meet specifications, quality standards, and are cost-efficient by vendor selection.
• Actions in relation to material shortages that impacting production
• Liaising with vendor, production, finance, customer service, logistic etc
• Preparing and generating weekly report of inventory status, stock requisition analysis, and forecasting
• Proactively contributes to the team
• Initiate / support LEAN activities and projects to continuously improve the business processes.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned on time

Qualifications/Requirements:

• BA/BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Mathematic, Statistics or closely related field required
• Over 3 years in material planning, purchasing or relevant supply chain experience.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Operations, MRP systems, shop floor controls, Supply Chain methodology, Material Management System, Lean and Perfect Execution.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SAP. VBA skill is an advantage
• Strong analytical and able to work with mathematical concepts
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
