We are currently searching for a Technical Project Manager to join our team in Crawley .

Technical Project Manager

Job Summary:
This position is for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) in the Cabin Solutions and Satellite Services Team, based close to Gatwick Airport.
The TPM will lead the planning and successful delivery of Engineering projects, taking into account both internal and external activities and interdependencies. The TPM will report to the Systems Engineering Manager and will work alongside other project management functions.

Required Experience:
- proven experience as Technical Project Manager and well versed in Project Management methodologies
- Experience with software development and delivery projects
- Experience with distributed systems
- experience with Agile methodologies
- system integration projects
- experience in a shared services organisation

Nice to Have:
- Satcom communications - system components, networks, etc.
- airline passenger wireless IFE systems - hardware, software,
- avionics components, connectors, standards, and control procedures
- Server / Hardware experience

Responsibilities:

Work with Engineering Managers (SW Dev, Test, and Networks) and with other business unit stakeholders to develop project plans for CabinConnect projects. The TPM will have primary execution responsibilities to ensure projects meet requirements, stay on schedule, and within budget.

Coordinate and lead the development of engineering estimates.

Work closely with the SW Dev Manager in the planning, tracking and reporting of Dev tasks.

Work closely with the Test Manager in the planning and reporting of test activities and status.

Manage external dependencies, such as 3rd party software, hardware, and systems (Axinom, Honeywell, Sandvine).

Work closely with the Release Manager to align software delivery milestones with project dependencies and project outputs.

Ensure Engineering Project milestones are achieved, such as requirement reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and customer acceptance and delivery milestones.

Lead pipeline planning and review activities for the Engineering team, specifically with regard to implementing new customers or significant system enhancements.

Maintain a consolidated status and report of engineering projects, including briefings to leadership and key stakeholders.

Maintain a resourcing demand plan.

Job Summary Single point of contact for engineering on a development project. Responsible for the technical leadership and project management of the design & development activities, within the guidelines set by the LCVSM/Program Manager and Customer. Job Responsibilities
  • Considered the customer's and LCVSM's technical point of contact for a medium to high complexity program development.
  • Must have strong working knowledge for at least one domain, with basic understanding of relationships between all functional disciplines working within that domain.
  • Works with the program manager to develop the program execution plan for a medium to large high complexity project. Has primary execution responsibilities to ensure project remains within budget, on schedule and meets requirements.
  • Must have demonstrated application of integrated project management, technical consistent process, earned value, and risk management for at least one domain program.
  • Implications of actions and decisions have moderate impact on the business financials.
  • Mentors PE's and some functional engineers.
  • Generates project management bids for medium to high complexity development projects. Often creates the WBS and coordinates bid inputs for the entire engineering bid team.
  • May lead medium to high complexity proposal efforts, coordinating inputs from various project engineers.
  • Tracks, reports, and analyzes earned value metrics as required to understand program performance. Is able to recommend staffing and/or schedule adjustment based on these metrics. Report overall engineering performance to plan as appropriate.
  • Understands relationship of his/her projects to other development projects, defining strategic plan to leverage the investments across the business unit. Is capable of representing Rockwell Collins to the customer in the absence of the LCVSM.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
