The Space Launch Systems (SLS) Production Engineering manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the SLS production architecture. This leader will manage employees performing Production Engineering activities associated with technical development, implementation, and analysis. Management responsibilities will include Industrial Engineering, Product Review (Liaison) and Manufacturing Engineers performing production and ship side support of the SLS production system at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans Louisiana, the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, the Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama, and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

This PE leader will be accountable to MAF and SLS Senior leadership and assigned to the BDS Space and Launch Engineering Launch and Mission Operations capability leader.

A thorough knowledge and experience with product development, ship side support teams, Material Review Boards (MRB), PRE, space flight and BDS common systems and processes is highly recommended.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility - U.S. Citizenship Required.

This is a sensitive/safety-sensitive position and is subject to NASA (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • At least 5 years of demonstrated managerial and leadership experience in Production Engineering where the applicant has supported manufacturing product lines and multiple manufacturing programs required.
  • Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher desired.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace , or Manufacturing Engineering Degree, strongly preferred.
  • Has held other managerial leadership roles in Integrated Product Teams or Production Support Teams strongly preferred
  • Production work experience in Aerospace Management of this effort includes all estimating, scheduling, earned value management and resource planning of production engineers and capability shared resource teams for completion of part specifications, tool orders, fabrication and assembly work instructions and model based instructions defining standard work for production operators.
