Job summary

Red Hat's Sales and Services team is looking for a Technical Presales Engineer to join us in Dublin, Ireland. In this role, you will support our rapidly growing business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and report to the regional manager. You will be responsible for working with a range of internal and external customers including Red Hat’s inside sales and field solutions architect teams and our partner ecosystem. Your typical responsibilities will center on providing assistance to the mentioned groups to obtain a technical win with the influencers and decision-makers at our partners and customers. You’ll participate in webinars and conference calls and respond to technical qualifying questions, including request for information (RFI) and request for proposal (RFP) support. As an Inside Technical Presales Engineer, you will also assist with customer product evaluations in addition to managing technical support escalations as required. As it is primarily an office-based role travel requirements are minimal, approximately 10-15%, to attend regional quarterly business reviews, field engagements, and to provide occasional on-site support for events and exhibitions. You will work in a hugely varied role and will have the opportunity to develop both your commercial and technical skills and experience. Primary job responsibilities

  • Provide technical presales support for our middleware product portfolio to Red Hat’s inside sales teams, field solution architects, partners, and customers
  • Provide product evaluation and proof of concept support to partners and customers
  • Develop product and solution demonstrations and manage the demonstration lab infrastructures from our Farnborough, U.K. office
  • Deliver webinars and enablement training for inside sales teams, partners, and customers
  • Assist in responding to customer and prospect technical inquiries including RFPs and RFIs
  • Participate and contribute to field solution architect discussion threads
  • Assist the engineering, marketing, and business teams with product information launches

Required skills

  • Direct experience with one or more of the following Red Hat middleware offerings or their community equivalents: Red Hat OpenShift [Origin], Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform [WildFly], Red Hat Fuse [FuseSource], Red Hat JBoss Fuse Service Works [Switchyard or Overlord], Red Hat AMQ, Red Hat Data Grid, or Infinispan
  • Experience with at least one of the following code repositories: Git, Concurrent Versions System (CVS), or Apache Subversion (SVN)
  • Solid communication skills with an ability to adapt your messaging and content for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work as part of a geographically dispersed team
  • Ability and desire to constantly learn about new technologies and apply those concepts to customers needs

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with server-side Java or JavaScript programming, e.g., J2SE or J2EE, Node.js, etc.
  • Experience with build tools like Apache Maven or Apache Ant
  • Experience with continuous integration (CI) tools like Jenkins
  • Bachelor of Engineering in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent
  • Relevant professional certifications, e.g., Red Hat Certified JBoss Administrator (RHCJA)
  • Proficiency in a second European language
