Role Summary
The Head of Merchant Services Partnership Marketing, North America is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing plans across the U.S. and Canada for our merchant acquiring and payment processing business. The key objective of this role will be to drive growth of small business clients leveraging partner channels. The candidate will also manage digital channel strategies to build brand awareness and drive lead generation in the Canadian market. This is a senior role with responsibility for consulting senior executives on marketing strategies and socializing marketing plans, budgets, business cases and campaign performance with the Merchant Services Presidents overseeing Small Business and Canada market segments. The candidate will lead a team of marketers to deliver strategic and integrated marketing programs. The role is based in Toronto managing a geographically diverse team across North America. The role requires close engagement with senior and executive level stakeholders across Product, Sales and Banking to influence, challenge and collaborate to meet business goals. The ability to partner with the broader Marketing, Communications and Media Relations teams across lines of business and regions is required. The ideal candidate is a client-focused, results-oriented, analytical, digital marketer. The candidate must have an intellectual curiosity to stay apprised of industry and competitive trends, a collaborative approach to work across functional teams, a desire to employee innovative and modern marketing techniques, and an ability to drive a highly productive team through clear strategic plans.
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute an annual integrated marketing strategy and plan tied to business objectives.
• Manage a team of marketers responsible for delivering against the marketing plan.
• Develop and execute digital and partner channel marketing strategies to drive lead generation for sales conversion working closely with external client partners and internal sales teams.
• Incorporate best practice digital marketing techniques in owned, paid and partner channels.
• Establish a relentless focus on conversion funnel and program optimization through marketing performance reporting and analytics discipline.
• Develop client-facing content and materials for direct client interactions and sales enablement.
• Ensure all marketing programs are managed within budget and on time and optimize return on marketing investments.
• Foster an environment where risk/control issues are escalated, and trends are anticipated and identified.
• Execute people leadership responsibilities including developing talent, coaching, providing timely feedback, clearly communicating priorities, managing resources and supporting diversity.
Required Experience
• 10-12 years of marketing experience with proven track record of developing, implementing and optimizing digital marketing programs in owned, paid and partner distribution channels.
• Deep knowledge of digital marketing strategy and tactics, including SEO and SEM; content and social; demand and lead generation; conversion funnel optimization; referral and influencer channels; partnership channels.
• Exceptional analytical skills
• Significant experience in developing and executing complex, global projects and navigating a matrix organization.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and creative problem solving skills with the ability to translate strategy into action plans.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills as well as abilities to build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders and to partner effectively with marketing partners.
• Proven effectiveness in presenting and influencing at the executive level.
• Understanding of the payments industry landscape and market dynamics is a plus.
• Experience building and leading effective teams and passion for identifying and developing talent
• Bachelor degree required, Master’s degree preferred
