Overview

J.P. Morgan Commercial Banking (CB) Global Trade offers financing and risk mitigation products to our Corporate Client Banking and Specialized Industries (CCBSI) and Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries (MMBSI) client base. Client solutions include Supply Chain Finance, Export / ECA Finance, Trade Loans, Receivables Finance and Purchase, Contract Monetization, I nventory Finance, Commercial Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, and Guarantees. This fast growing business is a critical element of a complete Commercial Banking (CB) client relationship, and an important component of our Wholesale Payments and international growth strategies.

The Global Trade Associate will support the aggressive growth agenda of the business, helping to help develop and execute a comprehensive client sales agenda, driving client satisfaction and profitable revenue growth. He or she will partner with senior Global Trade sales specialists in support of their origination objectives, helping deliver value-added and consultative solutions to our clients, including SCF, Traditional Trade, and Export Finance.

He or she will accomplish this by developing thoughtful research on clients, data analyses on their supplier communities, building product and market knowledge, understanding credit dynamics and the underwriting and product risk evaluation processes, developing sales skills, and constructing persuasive sales messaging.

The Associate will have the opportunity to participate in client sales and deal meetings, and as experience and skills develop warrants, to lead discussions. In addition, the Associate will engage with Global Trade leadership on ad hoc strategic projects.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

The Trade Sales Associate is an integral coverage team member who contributes to new sales targets and achieving portfolio growth objectives. The position is primarily geared to providing support to Trade Sales Officers (TSOs) and accountability for briefing memos, account plans and Pitch Books, while ensuring coordination among product partners, and other internal stakeholders to develop client solutions. As a member of the team, the position plays an integral part to help gain, manage and maintain the relationships.

This role allows an individual to develop skills over time for a successful career within the firm and to pursue more senior roles within the Global Trade business such as a Trade Sales Officer position.

The final officer title and job grade is at the discretion of the firm and will be discussed at the time of offer. It may be different than what is listed on the requisition based on candidate experience level.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Work with the TSO on client proposals including Trade solutions, cost/benefit analysis, pricing and profitability models, etc.
  • Assist with client call preparation by creating relationship review materials, pitch books, account plans, and conducting customer research
  • Understand clients' Treasury structure and objectives
  • Coordinate with product partners to develop comprehensive Working Capital solutions
  • Develop and understand competitors’ products and positioning within the client & market
  • Work with TSOs throughout the sales cycle to manage pipeline and ensure services and pricing are set up timely and accurately
  • Coordinate with internal partners to ensure successful implementation, product ramp-up and accurate pricing/billing

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Required
  • Previous experience in a Banking / Trade Finance role
  • An i ndependent, self-motivated, resilient, high energy performer able to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the Traditional Trade, Supply Chain Finance, and Export Finance / Export Credit Agency products preferred, and a desire to learn is a requirement.
  • Understanding of credit and the credit process.
