Description Position Summary and Overview The DBS Leader is responsible for promoting and leading the successful implementation of the Danaher Business System within Leica Biosystems. They will be a key business partner who is results driven with a strong and proven ability to drive effective use of DBS tools. The Danaher Business System (DBS) is our proven system for achieving success. DBS is a philosophy, set of values, and series of management processes that collectively define who we are and how we do what we do at Danaher. Our DBS tools are designed to help us excel in the areas of Growth, Leadership, and Lean, building on a strong foundation of DBS fundamentals (Voice of Customer, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvement, Kaizen, 5S, Problem Solving, and Visual & Daily Management) The position of Innovation Danaher Business System Leader (iDBSL) reports to the VP DBS/Director DBS Innovation with the
primary responsibility to enable growth through the NPD Growth Equation, implement and sustain change through DBS processes, and lead the organization in a key enabling role. The iDBSL functions as the leader within a cross-functional space bearing responsibility for driving improvement in the innovation KPIs. They will utilize Problem Solving Process to identify gaps in process, talent, and environment, and develop action plans to close the gaps, and sustain any countermeasures implemented. They are responsible for driving the processes and results/KPIs for the Business Unit’s Product Planning Group. In parallel, the role supports DBS Fundamentals on site.
Major Responsibilities - Lead and facilitate the development and management of Innovation and New Product Development initiatives to achieve annual targets, Policy Deployment (PD), and strategic plan objectives. Develop and continuously improve processes within Innovation and the Vista, CA site. Will be part of the Vista, CA site leadership team.
- Link business needs and opportunities to DBS and develop a roadmap to close gaps, install/improve process, and sustain results. Leverage a solid understanding of DBS Fundamentals combined with knowledge of the NPD Growth Equation and tools that drive it.
- Create DBS Visual Management to drive visibility to kaizen funnel and sustainment. Schedule, charter, and facilitate kaizen projects. Ensure effective sustainment of results and drive problem solving as needed to close gaps to targets. Develop framework and plan to build out DBS Certified Practitioner funnel and capability.
- Lead Vista, CA teams to install and drive good daily management (DM) and problem solving processes (PSP) to find root cause and countermeasure for driving/delivering growth plans.
- Identify Danaher and Leica Biosystems best practices, standardize and install across regions. Benchmark and incorporate best practices.
- Train and install foundational capabilities in PD, Action Planning, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management.
- Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. Augment with additional resources (DHR DBSO, outside resources) Improve DBS training and facilitation by pursuing certification in DBS tools for yourself and others.

Is very customer focused and possesses strong interpersonal and communications skills. Rapidly adapts to Danaher’s culture and gains the confidence of the Danaher organization.
REQUIRED - A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in [Engineering System-/Mech.-/SW - product development], Science, Business, or a related field .
- A Minimum of five (5) years of leadership and/or practitioner experience in the innovation domain (New Product Development) or leadership in continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to consistently deliver business results
- Ability to work with functions in the implementation of the DBS roadmap and implement key Innovation initiatives; successfully drives change, handles conflict / ambiguity
- Mastery of fundamental DBS or continuous improvement tools
- Superior skills in communications, training / adult learning, consulting / influencing; teamwork across disciplines, regions, and cultures
- Demonstrated proficiency in time management and action plan development and execution
Location: This role is based at the following LBS site: Vista, CA (USA) Travel %: Travel ability is mandatory (domestic and international), expectations for this role are 30-40% for initial 3 months then 20%.
Will include some travel and support for our Richmond, IL location and India Development Center (Bengaluru, India). PREFERRED: - Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Business
- Hands-on experience implementing improvements in a continuous improvement (DBS, Lean Six Sigma, TPS, etc.), line management or consulting role
- Experience managing people and/or projects
- Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training and facilitation environments
